Coleen’s Real Women on ITV2 is an eight-part series in which we will witness Coleen scouring the UK in a bid to find “ordinary girls” to compete with professionals for the prize of being the model behind High Street brands.

Last week I sat down to watch the programme with high expectations, despite an earlier heated discussion with my husband during which he dismissed the whole thing as ‘sensationalism’. “They will not be real women” he concluded. “You wait and see”! By real women we were both meant Ms Average.

I was looking forward to proving my husband wrong, but in the end I was the one that was proved wrong. The ‘real women’ were thin/slim and naturally beautiful. Any person who unknowing wandered backstage would have thought they were viewing auditions for the next ‘wannabe’ girl band.

The eventual winner who would become the legs of Pretty Polly tights, was 24 year old mother of two, Sasha Parker. Sasha is beautiful, size 12, busty and 6ft tall with an inside leg of 36 inches!

“She is not a real women” said my husband “I told you so”!

I had to agree, she was not your average size 14-16 …. Far from it!

Coleen thought it was “fantastic’ I was very pleased that I had not bet any of my hard earned cash!

Last night‘s winner Megan Pugh, was even further removed from your average women (if that were possible). She was petite, fragile, size 8, naturally beautiful and only 18 years old. Avon chose the stereotypical ‘model look’ rather the selecting one of the other more normal sized finalist’s.

Coleen was disappointed, so was I and I suspect most of the ‘real women’ watching the program!

Helping Colleen select the finalist was Gucci’s Camilla Johnson-Hill. In hindsight, I should have seen the writing on the wall.
