Body Beautiful Wish List 09

It’s the time of year when everyone mentally says goodbye to 2008 and start speculating on what the year ahead may bring.  Here is our Wish List for 2009.

Wish One: Re-evaluation of Values
A long overdue reflection and re-examination of the values that are prominent in British society, particularly in regards to physical appearance, material wealth and celebrity. This self-analysis will call into question the underlying assumptions that our society has and the issues that it creates regarding how it treats the few that 'fit' and the effects if has on the psyche of overwhelming majority who don't.

The results? Conscious choices to ensure acceptance and opportunity for all.

Wish Two:  Media
The media will get hold of the concept that 'with great power comes great responsibility'.  There will be an end to the widespread practice of undermining a persons self esteem and confidence; in order to sell them the 'fix'.

Wish Three:  Focus on Physical and Mental Health
The 'Barbie doll ideal' of what a woman should look like i.e. white, blond, young, big breasts, tiny waist,  long legs, and elongated neck etc. will be rejected.

Women (and men) will start to embrace their bodies for what it is and begin to focus on their physical and mental health. At the same time they will acquire a deeper sense of beauty and celebrate individuality.

Wish Four:  Old Fashion Hard Work
There will be a resurgence in the belief that hard work, effort, perseverance, knowledge and skill are the only ways to success. Taking your clothes off,  having huge breast implants, appearing in a sex tape or reality TV show will no longer be acceptable paths to success and fame.

The young will once again want to become doctors, nurses, lawyers, teachers, scientists, entrepreneurs, sports men/women etc.

Wish Five: Sex  Diet
Sex will no longer be used to sell everything from cars to soap power, thereby subjecting the young to a daily diet of sex and corrupting  their views of womanhood.

Wish Six Airbrushing
Increasing public awareness and subsequent rejection of airbrushing (to the point where the pictures are ‘unreal’ ) will becoming more widespread. E.g. The Girl Guides recently demand for a ban on airbrushing in magazines.

The media will start bowing to popular pressure.
Wish Seven  Healthy Eating
The unfortunate economic environment will  not be all negative. In a bid to save money, people will return to home cooking using fresher, healthier and cheaper products that will have the added benefit of having 2-4 times the quantity.

Expensive processed ready meals will be out.

Wish Eight Celebrity Silence
Celebrities will accept full responsibility for the phenomenal influence they wield and will cease the practice of expressing their views on health, beauty, world events etc. Especially  in circumstances where they know very little about the subject/issue and could cause harm to those who follow their lead.

Wish Nine Cosmetic Surgery
The popularity of non surgical and minimally invasive procedures will grow and far outpace the number of individuals undergoing surgery for purely cosmetic reasons.

Cosmetic surgery will be primarily conducted for  medical/reconstructive reasons.

Wish Ten
All our site visitors will have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2009.
